The month of October we traveled to Australia to meet Mem Fox! We enjoyed several of her books!
At her website, we got to listen to her read our favorites! One interesting fact we learned was that Mem was not her original name. She didn't like her name and changed it when she was young. She has kept Mem ever since.
Where will we go in November?

Peek into our week - October 24th
This week we had a little harvest fun! We split into three groups and mixed up with Mrs. Marsh's friends to do an activity. We still have one more rotation to do on Monday. Enjoy the pictures!

It's Not Magic!
This week we learned about Physical Changes. A physical change can affect the size, shape or color of a substance. We started out with BTB mixed with water. No we are not drinking it! We are mixing in Carbon Dioxide or the air we breath out. It turned GREEN!
When we added a mixture of vinegar and water it turned yellow!
Finally, we added water and baking soda and it turned back to BLUE!

Canal View Open House / Curriculum Night
Thursday Evening from 6pm-7:30pm is Canal View's Open House / Curriculum Night.
Please bring your child to visit the school and view what we have been working on since school began.
We are also conducting "Parent University." Teachers have volunteered to conduct small sessions on different topics to help educate parents on items that involve their child's education.
I am teaching a class on "How to read aloud with your child." This will be held from 6:35pm-6:55pm in the library. Please feel free to attend.
I will not be in my classroom at that time, but you are still welcome to visit the classroom. I have arranged another faculty member to be in the classroom while I teach at the "Parent University."
I hope you can stop in to view all the exciting things we have been working on.

You know it is a good day when you are given an addressed note, taped together for privacy with the penmanship of a child!
